On Wonder

When was the last time you stopped to look, stare, at the blades of grass growing between the cracks in the sidewalk, at the drops of water, like balls of glass perched on the wing of a leaf. At first you might think to yourself, “I don’t have time to pay attention to such nonsense, to such frivolous imagery.” But what if in that exact time you spend questioning your wondering about the curling wind between tree branches or the evening breeze dusting along the sheer window dressing in your room, you take in the day with such renewal, such innocence. Such curiosity that suddenly you feel more alive than the tides crashing into sand and sky, more alive than you’ve felt in a long time, and can’t wait until the next time you get the chance to wonder again.
