On writing (or dressing)




Words do not simply lie themselves crooked or straight, curved and crossed on a blank page. A writer crafts each word intentional, as if dressing in front of that page, like a figure in a mirror, pulling at stitch, turning lines, and layering images, sound, and rhythm.

    The mirrored-image sometimes reflects a perfect page, but the discerning eye of the writer finds yet another flaw and the crafting resumes.

      Well said. It is that discerning eye that we learn to trust, to listen to. We learn to look, look again don’t we?
